Helmut O. Knall, the winewriter of wine-times.at, which is one of the first and largest wine sites here in Austria writes some good stuff about Herrenhof Pinot Blanc 2009. Read his rating here! (this is in German, but below I translated the rating for you)
Helmut O. Knall:
" This wine needs a big glass, time and air. Yes, even if it has "only" 12.5% of alc. content. It changes - and developed enormously. After 3 days from the half-full bottle it tastes at its best. The flavors are complex, delicate, nutty, a bit caramel, ripe pears, then more sugar melons, Ringlotten (a type of yellow plums), dried apples and a little bit spicy, like baking biscuits, you will find different aromas and always something new. On the palate, then fine juicy fruit that acts first quite "heavy", juicy, creamy, slightly minerally and spicy (I am looking forward to when the vines get older), harmoniously integrated soft acidity, good mouth feel and realatively long finish. A very slender wine and good in combination to a lot of different food. 90pts.
